North West Castle Hotel

North West Castle offers all of it's visitors and guests a comfortable, luxurious and convenient three star town centre hotel accommodation experience in Stranraer, Dumfries and Galloway in the South West of Scotland. A family owned and run hotel for more than fifty years, ‘The Castle’ itself, was formerly the home of Sir John Ross, who was once a famous Arctic explorer, who was instrumental in the discovery of the ice bound trading route which is now known around the world as the ‘North West Passage’.

North West Castle is seen as an excellent base for exploring the beautiful local area of South West Dumfries and Galloway and the hotel itself offers an impressive 72 en-suite bedrooms, along with stunning dining experiences of ‘The Regency’ dining room, The Alpine Restaurant and Grill, leisure facilities including swimming pool, sauna, spa bath, gym and its very own indoor curling rink which hosts a multitude of world renowned Curling events throughout the year.

Sixty eight of our en-suite rooms are within the main hotel building, with four in a separate annexe. All rooms have the following as standard:

Room Service is available and all guest rooms in the main hotel are accessible by lift. Guests have free use of the hotel leisure facilities, and curling on our own indoor ice rink is available from October to April. You are welcome to try the game, but it’s also great fun to watch from the comfort of the Alpine Bar and Restaurant.

A supplement is charged for guests who wish to participate in curling. Dogs are welcome in all our rooms however there will be a small charge of £5 per dog per night.

Our chefs throughout the North West Castle restaurants and dining areas proudly use only the best local and Scottish range of produce. This allows them to create all of the fresh and modern British cuisine menus in both of our restaurants. These are naturally complemented by our extensive wine and drinks list that are available for all guests and visitors.

Our very own Regency Dining Room is a traditional hotel dining room, which offers a friendly and relaxed service accompanied with excellent food. Both resident and non-resident diners using the dining room can choose from our exquisite à la carte menu or from our daily changing three course evening menu.

Guests may also enjoy our large games room with snooker and pool tables, table tennis, carpet bowling and a small selection of children's toys to make sure all ages are entertained during their stay at North West Castle.

As well as the hotels' extensive indoor leisure facilities there is lots to do in the local area around North West Castle and throughout Dumfries and Galloway. Stranraer is a busy little town with a large selection of lovely shops and cafes to sit down and have a nice coffee, tea of afternoon lunch in while you take a break from exploring the area.
