Kirkdale Estate

Kirkdale Estate is a stunning coastal estate with views stretching far out across the Solway Firth in an area of outstanding natural beauty. The Estate has private coastline which is designated a SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest) with rare lichens and ancient native woodland.

We have three detached holiday cottages to let with spectacular, uninterrupted sea views over the magnificent Wigtown Bay in Dumfries and Galloway, South West Scotland. Kirkdale Bank and Kirkdale Port are set apart from each other along a private track on the Estate.

Our holiday cottages sleep six, are refurbished to a high standard, have exceptional sea views and welcome pets. They are family friendly - each property has a selection of toys, games, books, cards, TV, DVD and CD/radio.

The situation of each property means you can completely escape from the hustle and bustle yet if you wish, seek out a huge variety of activities on your doorstep, including mountaing biking, walking, fishing, golf, tennis, horse-riding and sailing. The area is well-known for its beautiful walks, coastline and forest parks. Galloway Forest Park has been recently unveiled as the first Dark Sky Park in the UK winning Gold Tier status from the International Dark Sky Association confirming it as one of the best places for stargazing in the world. We are only twenty minutes from Castle Douglas Food Town, Kirkcudbright, famous for its artists and Wigtown, Scotland's Book Town.

Kirkdale Bank
Kirkdale Bank holiday cottage has been renovated to provide high quality self catering accommodation to comfortably sleep 6.

In addition to gas central heating, there is an open fire in the spacious sitting/dining room and a wood-burning stove in the eating kitchen. Both make the cottage very cosy and atmospheric. Free firewood is provided. There is a TV/DVD and CD/Radio with IPod dock in the sitting-room. The dining table in the sitting-room can seat up to 10.

The sitting-room, kitchen, master bedroom and twin bedroom all command spectacular sea views. There is a fully enclosed south facing garden with teak table and chairs looking out to sea. A further large garden is open to the side and rear. Free wi-fi is available.

Kirkdale Port
Kirkdale Port is a magical holiday cottage with a garden that meets the sea, situated on the private foreshore of the Estate. The cottage has been refurbished to provide high quality self catering accommodation for up to six people.

All three bedrooms, plus the sitting/dining room have spectacular sea views. There is a master double bedroom on the ground floor plus two twins on the first floor. An unobtrusive baby gate has been installed at the top of the stairs. All the bedrooms have black-out lined curtains and sprung mattresses.

The sitting/dining room has a wood-burning stove (free firewood is provided) and a dining-table that can seat up to 8. There is a fully enclosed garden to the side and rear and a stunning south facing garden which runs down to the shore.

Garden Cottage
Kirkdale Garden Cottage, complete with its own two acre private original walled garden offers a complete rural idyll away from the hustle and bustle of your daily life.

There are three bedrooms, sleeping six, with black-out lined curtains to ensure the best possible night’s sleep. The master bedroom has a king size bed and views over the garden. There is a further twin room and the third bedroom also has two full size single beds, one the fun of a mid-sleeper and an additional single bed. The cosy and characterful sitting-room with windows to the garden has a wood-burning stove and french doors providing direct access to the wonderful space of the private walled garden. The dining/kitchen is very spacious with dining table and chairs and window seat alongside a woodburning stove. There is an additional utility room off the kitchen with washing machine, three drawer freezer and second sink. Free logs and wi-fi are provided and the walled garden is entirely yours to enjoy.

Kirkdale is a working Estate and we are surrounded by stunning scenery and beautiful wildlife such as red squirrels, roe deer, kites and otters and much more.
